VASSILIS KAGKIOUZIS

I am a specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, with the title of Orthopedic Manipulative Physiotherapist as recognized by the International Confederation of Physiotherapists.

As a registered member of the Greek Society of Physiotherapists, I have been fully active in this domain since 2013 and consistently updating my knowledge and experience. I am completely focused on and dedicated to treating those who suffer from musculoskeletal pain.

My aim has always been to gain a high-quality education in the fields of pain neuroscience, musculoskeletal as well as in sports physiotherapy. This has given me the opportunity to work and acquire invaluable hands-on experience.

My curriculum vitae will enable you to see all that I have done as it is most important that you feel secure with the person to whom you will be entrusting your body.

Career and Accomplishments to date

What triggered his interest in the body was his elite athletic background and this led him onto the science behind rehabilitation. His Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Patras also included a dissertation on stress fractures, three clinical practices as well as a six-month period at the General Hospital Asklepieio, Voulas, Athens. In 2013, he became the physiotherapist for the junior and senior male National Greek Polo Team. At the same time, he has continued to broaden his knowledge in the fields of sports and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, thereby increasing the number of therapeutic tools at his disposition.

In 2014, he decided to take a giant step and gain experience in another country to understand how practitioners operate elsewhere. He chose New Zealand as the place to go. This journey offered him the opportunity to have an insight into how physiotherapists in Oceania work as they are unique in the world in their use of evidence-based solutions in physiotherapy rehabilitation.

On returning to Greece, he continued his collaboration with the National Greek Polo team and commenced his specialisation in Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy.

In 2016, his was given the responsibility for the Physiotherapy department for the non-governmental organisation Doctors Without Borders. Here, he was given the opportunity to assist in the rehabilitation of patients who had experienced musculoskeletal trauma, the most traumatised people in the world who were victims of torture. The aim was to gain their trust and confidence in clinicians who were to help them deal with their pain, both physical and mental. Using a multi-disciplinary approach, doctors of many specialisations were involved from psychologists, social workers, cultural mediators as well as lawyers.

At the same time, he was following further education in chronic pain and completed his internship in the Chronic Pain Clinic at the government hospitals Gennimatas and Ipprokrateio.

In 2018, he was the responsible physiotherapist for the Pan-Hellenic Tennis Tournament which took place at Zappeio and after that, began a second specialisation in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy. He have continued to offer my services, knowledge and experience at rehabilitation clinics, in the capacity of supervisor as well as at a private level.

It is of great importance to note that his whole philosophy regarding physiotherapy is Evidence-based, which gives his patients not only the opportunity to experience the most up to date and tried and tested therapies but most significantly, to focus on the uniqueness of each individual problem.
